Hi, I would like to change out the original seat post on my 1990 Vitus 979 frame. Will a round post stay in adjustment with the flat set screw set up?

I recently bought a Vitus 979 and I want to replace the headset. I’m unsure what specification of headset I need to buy to replace it and I came across this page while searching on Google to find out. Do you know if it’s a standard 1″ British thread headset, and is the crown race ISO or JIS standard? Thanks for your help!

Thought you guys might like to see my full French Vitus.
(sorry, there’s an American Classic seat post.)
But ALL else on the bike is Mavic, save for the Maillard freewheel (8 speed!), the chain (I have a Sedis chain), and the Turbo Saddle (sorry Bernard!).
